Calendar Types: Which One Should You Use?
Choose between simple, round robin, and service calendars.
Noddle offers several calendar types for different scheduling needs. Here's what each one does and when to use it.
Simple / Personal Calendar
Best for: Solo users booking one-on-one appointments
The most straightforward calendar type. One host, one booking link, standard availability settings. Ideal if you're a solo business owner or if each team member has their own calendar.
Use cases: Discovery calls, client check-ins, consultations, coaching sessions
Round Robin Calendar
Best for: Teams where multiple people can handle the same type of appointment
A client uses a single shared booking link and Noddle assigns the appointment to whichever team member is available, following your distribution rules:
- Optimize for Availability — books the next available person
- Optimize for Equal Distribution — rotates bookings evenly
You can set team member priority levels and optionally let clients choose a preferred team member (Staff Selection).
Use cases: Sales teams, support teams, medical practices, real estate agencies
Service Calendar (Class / Event Booking)
Best for: Group events, classes, or services with limited spots
A Service Calendar lets multiple people book the same time slot, up to a maximum capacity you set. When the spots fill, the slot closes automatically.
Use cases: Group fitness classes, workshops, webinars, tours, limited-seat events
Key Settings Across All Calendar Types
| Setting | What It Does |
|---|---|
| Duration | How long each appointment lasts |
| Buffer time | Gap between appointments to prevent back-to-back bookings |
| Advance notice | Minimum time before booking (e.g., 2 hours minimum) |
| Max future booking | How far in advance someone can book (e.g., 60 days max) |
| Auto-confirm vs. Approval | Instant confirmation or manual review before confirming |
| Availability overrides | Block specific dates (vacation, holidays) |
| Redirect URL | Send clients to a specific page after booking |
| Custom form | Collect additional info at time of booking |
Connecting Multiple Calendars
You can build a Calendar Group — a single booking page that shows multiple calendar types or team members. Clients pick the service and time that works for them, all from one URL.
This is useful for businesses that offer multiple service tiers or need clients to self-select the type of appointment they need.
