Using Tags to Organize Your Contacts
Label contacts with tags to filter, segment, and automate at scale.
Tags are one of the simplest and most flexible tools in Noddle for organizing your contacts. They work like labels — apply them to contacts, and you can instantly filter, group, and act on those contacts at scale.
What Are Tags?
A tag is a word or short phrase applied to a contact's profile. You create them as needed — there's no preset list. Common examples:

A contact can have unlimited tags, and tags can be added or removed at any time — manually or automatically via Automations.
Adding Tags to a Contact
Manually (one contact):
- Go to Contacts and open a contact's card.
- Find the Tags field in the contact profile.
- Type a tag name and press Enter, or select an existing tag from the dropdown.
- Tags save automatically.
In Bulk (multiple contacts):
- Go to Contacts.
- Check the boxes next to the contacts you want to tag.
- Click Add Tags from the bulk action bar.
- Type the tag name and apply.
Removing Tags
Open the contact card and click the × next to a tag to remove it. For bulk removal, follow the same steps as bulk adding, but choose Remove Tags.
Using Tags to Build Smart Lists
Tags become powerful when combined with Smart Lists:
- Go to Contacts > + Add Smart List.
- Set the filter to Tags > Contains > [your tag name].
- Click Create.
Now you have a dynamic list of every contact with that tag, automatically updated as tags are added or removed.
Tags in Automations
You can add or remove tags automatically based on contact actions:
- Someone fills out a form → tag as
new-lead - A deal is marked won → remove
prospect, addcustomer - A contact clicks a link in an email → tag as
interested
This keeps your lists accurate without any manual work on your end.
