Trigger Links
Tracked URLs that fire automations the moment a contact clicks — turning link clicks into CRM events.
A Trigger Link is a special tracked URL that you place inside an SMS or email. When a contact clicks it, two things happen simultaneously: they're taken to the destination URL, and Noddle fires a pre-set automation based on that click. It's like a regular link, but it also tells Noddle to do something.
Why Trigger Links Are Useful
Regular links tell you someone clicked. Trigger links tell you someone clicked and then do something about it — tag the contact, move them to a new automation, update a field, notify your team, or any other action.
This turns passive link clicks into active CRM events.
Creating a Trigger Link
- Go to Marketing > Trigger Links in the left menu.
- Click + Add Link.
- Give the link a name (e.g., "Clicked - Pricing Page").
- Enter the destination URL — where the contact will be sent when they click.
- Click Save.
Noddle generates a unique tracked URL for this link.
Using a Trigger Link in a Message
- When composing an SMS or email in an Automation, click the Trigger Link option.
- Select your link from the list.
- Noddle inserts the tracked URL into your message.
When the contact clicks it, the click is logged in their activity timeline and fires the workflow action you've set.
Setting Up the Automation Response
The real power is in what happens after the click. In your Automation:
- Use the Trigger Link Clicked trigger (or add a Wait step that waits for a trigger link click before continuing).
- Add the actions you want to fire:
- Add a tag (e.g., "Clicked - Pricing Page")
- Move to a new pipeline stage
- Send a follow-up SMS or email
- Notify a team member
- Enroll in a different automation
Practical Examples
Qualifying interested leads: Send a nurture email with a trigger link to your pricing page. When a contact clicks it, automatically tag them as "pricing-interest" and notify your sales team to follow up.
Appointment confirmation: Send a reminder SMS with a trigger link to "Confirm my appointment." When clicked, move the opportunity stage to "Confirmed" and send a calendar invite.
Re-engagement campaign: Send a trigger link to a special offer page. Contacts who click are moved to an active follow-up sequence; contacts who don't click after 3 days get a different message.
Opt-out by channel: Create trigger links that unsubscribe contacts from specific channels (SMS only, email only) without removing them from your CRM entirely.
